Final CAS Blog - 5/6

 How can we make CAS more relevant to the real world? 

I think CAS can be encouraged to be more relevant to the real world by incorporating activities the IB group as a whole can do that contributes to the CAS experience. We got a few opportunities to do this last year, but as senior year rolled around, group IB CAS experiences occurred less frequently.

How can you better support an IB student through the program?

You have done a wonderful job supporting our group as IB seniors, especially since we are going through a lot of changes in our lives with graduation and college coming up. I think the only support that we are looking for is just some motivation or assistance in our future lives beyond IB.

How to prepare future IB diploma candidates with the requirements of CAS?

You have done a great job of keeping us on track with our blogs! The only thing I can think of is to ultimately tell them that this should not be an additional weight that they should significantly worry about. CAS should be enjoyable instead of a burden.

Thank you Mrs. Holloway for everything you've done for us throughout our journey through senior year. We all appreciate you so much and have loved your support. We are so grateful for you and your presence at this school!

Miss Sparkle Pageant

  This past Saturday, I chose to spend my day volunteering with the Serteen Club at Carrollton High School at the Miss Sparkle Pageant: a pageant that contains the special needs community throughout Carrollton. There are Little Miss, Junior Miss, Teen Miss, and Miss categories which separate the girls into four groups. Within their group, they are judged by about ten judges and are each crowned and given a flower at the end of the ceremony. However, there will be one winner throughout each category. Sometime during the pageant, each girl is escorted by a male member and given a description of who they are and their interests. This whole day was a huge learning experience on my part, but it is one experience I will never get tired of sharing.  At 12:00 p.m. all of the volunteers arrived to help welcome the girls, sign them in, and hang up their dresses so they could attend the pageant rehearsal. Carroll County's Military Ball

  This past Saturday, April 15th, I attended Carroll County's Military Formal hosted by all of the county schools. This event is designed for JROCT members from the county schools to recognize special guests and veterans who act as role models for all cadets. I got invited by my brother who is a freshman at Central High School. He is new to the school and wanted someone to attend with him. I couldn't say no and I am glad I didn't! It was a great learning experience.  The event started at approximately 5:00pm. Remember that this is a very formal event so I had to wear a dress like you would wear to prom. I enjoy being at formal events, but this was like no other event I've been to! We started off the evening by meeting the guests of honor and shaking each of their hands. My Best Friends are Third Graders

 Ever since I was the ripe age of 6, I was addicted to playing teacher. I couldn't get enough! I had four students and they were the same students I used every time I played school. My family used to have this room in our house called the "classroom." This was only a craft room, but to me it was my classroom! I used to beg my sister, mom, grandparents, and my friends when they would come over to play school with me. Because of my whole childhood consisting of teaching, grading fake papers, and giving fake presentations, I was set on being a school teacher. But is that the same case now? The want to teach has worn off for me right now. Pretty sad isn't it? Well, in my second semester of 9th grade, I started the Teaching as a Profession pathway. This regained my love for teaching others a little bit! I think the question to ask now is, "I love teaching and being in a leadership position, but do I really want to be doing it in a classroom?"
